A dedicated coalition of event-planning professionals across Central Florida has united to deliver an extraordinary gift to the local nonprofit community: a fully funded, luxury fundraising gala designed to ensure every dollar raised goes directly toward charitable programming.

This year, the coalition selected New Hope for Kids as the beneficiary of the second annual Goodness Gala. Headquartered in Maitland, the nonprofit organization has spent the past three decades offering vital grief support and counseling services to children who have endured the devastating loss of parents, siblings, or other immediate loved ones to terminal illness, suicide, accidents, or acts of violence.

The core mission of New Hope for Kids centers on helping young people and their surviving family members navigate the complex emotional landscape following catastrophic loss. Through tailored group sessions and dedicated counselors, the organization strives to assure grieving youth that they are not isolated in their sorrow, providing them with constructive pathways to adjust and build resilience within their altered circumstances.

Brian Clark, the chief executive officer of New Hope for Kids, highlighted the profound value of being awarded the fully sponsored event. Despite delivering support services for 30 years, the organization continually encounters families in need who remain unaware that local grief resources exist. Clark noted that receiving this platform not only provides vital financial backing but also offers invaluable visibility to reach more suffering households.

Fundraising galas are typically expensive undertakings for charitable organizations, often requiring significant advance capital, months of staff coordination, and high vendor expenses that cut into the evening’s net contributions. The Goodness Gala model changes this dynamic by removing the entirety of the financial and logistical burden from the selected charity.

Valued at approximately $100,000, the gifted package includes an exhaustive array of commercial event services. The coalition provides a complete gourmet dinner alongside appetizers, full open-bar service, high-end floral centerpieces, tables, and interior furnishings. Technical and creative aspects are also fully covered, including sound engineering, dynamic lighting setups, printed materials, professional photography, and live disc jockey entertainment.

The entire affair takes place at The Balcony, an upscale venue featuring an expansive rooftop banquet room and outdoor patio space that overlooks the downtown Orlando skyline. The physical venue and the overarching concept originated with Sean Hughes, the chief executive officer of aVenue Event Group.

Hughes explained that while companies within the hospitality and event industries routinely enjoy their day-to-day trade, they also witness the steep financial hurdles charitable groups face when trying to stage high-yield benefits. Recognizing that typical nominal discounts still leave nonprofits with significant invoices, Hughes spearheaded the idea of assembling a network of vendors willing to provide a complete, turnkey gala at zero cost.

Local business owners responded enthusiastically to the invitation to participate. Among them was James Marino, owner of TableTop Catering, who emphasized that giving back is an essential element of corporate responsibility within the region. Marino expressed how deeply moved his team was by New Hope's focus on childhood bereavement, remarking that the reality of local youth facing sudden parental loss compelled his company to step forward.

To ensure the selection of beneficiaries is conducted objectively and equitably, organizers instituted a structured application process managed with guidance from the Central Florida Foundation. The foundation assists local philanthropists and regional initiatives in evaluating community needs and distributing resources effectively.

The initiative has grown rapidly since its inception. During its first year, around two dozen nonprofits submitted applications, leading to the selection of NextStep Orlando, a charity that aids individuals striving for rehabilitation and hope following paralysis. This year, competition grew as 36 different organizations vied for the $100,000 package.

Hughes acknowledged that reviewing the applications is an intensely emotional experience for the vendor committee, with many presentations underscoring profound community needs. Ultimately, New Hope's dedication to shielding and rebuilding vulnerable children stood out among the impressive pool of contenders.

The collaborative effort relies on an extensive roster of contributing event specialists, which includes Orlando Marquee & Decor, Go To Event Rentals, iRock Your Party, Bellamore Studio, Faux Real Flowers, On Top Printing, and Printed for Light, alongside aVenue Event Group and TableTop Catering.

For representatives of New Hope, the collective generosity of the business community mirrors the restorative environment the charity seeks to foster among grieving youth. Gloria Capozzi, the organization's director of community outreach, explained that witnessing children find mutual understanding and comfort during peer support sessions represents a profound shift from darkness to light.

As supporters gather for Saturday night's celebration on the downtown rooftop, the complete vendor sponsorship guarantees that donor contributions will be insulated from administrative overhead, directly advancing therapeutic programs for bereaved families.

The philanthropic initiative shows no signs of slowing down. On October 1, the vendor coalition will officially begin accepting applications for the 2027 Goodness Gala, continuing their long-term commitment to delivering substantial, unencumbered financial support to Central Florida's nonprofit sector.
