South Euclid Driver Sentenced to Prison Following Impaired-Driving Crash in Streetsboro That Induced Premature Birth

A Cuyahoga County motorist has been ordered to serve a substantial term in state prison and has been barred from driving for over a decade following a severe multi-vehicle collision in Streetsboro that severely injured a pregnant teenager and triggered the premature delivery of her infant son.

During a sentencing hearing held on September 8 in Portage County Common Pleas Court, Judge Becky Doherty ordered 33-year-old Tevin R. Glenn of South Euclid to serve an indefinite term of six to nine years in prison. In addition to the term of incarceration, the court imposed a 15-year suspension of Glenn’s motor vehicle operating privileges.

The judicial penalties followed Glenn’s decision to enter guilty pleas to two felony counts stemming from the incident. According to court records, Glenn pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular assault, categorized under Ohio law as a second-degree felony, along with a fourth-degree felony charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

The catastrophic sequence of events took place on the evening of November 20 at approximately 6:30 p.m. along Aurora Hudson Road in the city of Streetsboro. Law enforcement documentation from the Streetsboro Police Department indicated that Glenn was traveling westbound behind the wheel of a 2014 Nissan Armada when his vehicle initially lost its proper lane of travel.

Investigators determined that the Nissan crossed over the center line and sideswiped an oncoming 2014 Mazda3 that was traveling in the eastbound lane. Although Glenn attempted to correct his vehicle's trajectory after the initial impact, he quickly veered over the center dividing line a second time, sending his sport utility vehicle directly into oncoming traffic.

Moments later, the Nissan collided head-on with a second eastbound vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The impact caused severe structural damage to the smaller sedan and trapped its occupant, setting off an urgent emergency response from local medical and public safety personnel.

According to a press release issued by the Portage County Prosecutor’s Office, the driver of the Hyundai was identified as a 19-year-old woman residing in Cuyahoga Falls who was approximately seven months pregnant at the time of the catastrophic impact.

First responders rushed the injured expectant mother to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, located in Mayfield Heights, for emergency medical intervention. While being treated for an array of life-threatening trauma—including three distinct bone fractures in her right leg, a fractured sternum, and a punctured lung—she was forced into labor and prematurely gave birth to a baby boy.

The occupants of the first vehicle struck in the chain-reaction collision were also evaluated in the aftermath of the crash. The driver of the Mazda3, identified as a 39-year-old man from Streetsboro, along with two juvenile passengers—an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl—were described by authorities as visibly shaken and sustained minor physical injuries.

Following the devastating secondary head-on collision, prosecutors alleged that Glenn abandoned his vehicle and fled the crash scene on foot. Although he later walked back to the area and claimed he was not involved in the wreck, eyewitnesses at the scene identified him to responding law enforcement officers as the driver responsible for the crashes.

Officers with the Streetsboro Police Department subsequently initiated roadside investigations and administered standard field sobriety tests. Glenn failed the physical coordination evaluations, leading officers to place him under arrest immediately at the scene.

Public court records reveal that Glenn’s operating a vehicle under the influence charge was elevated from a misdemeanor to a fourth-degree felony as a result of his prior criminal driving history. The statutory enhancement was triggered because Glenn had accumulated two previous convictions for operating a vehicle impaired across both Cuyahoga County and Medina County within the five-year period preceding the Streetsboro incident.

As part of the formal plea agreement reached with the prosecution, several additional counts outlined in the original grand jury indictment were dismissed. Those dropped offenses included a fourth-degree felony count related to an alleged refusal to submit to chemical impairment testing, as well as misdemeanor charges for hit-skip, driving under an active suspension, and obstructing official business.

Beyond the multi-year prison sentence and the 15-year driver's license suspension, Judge Doherty ordered financial sanctions against the defendant. Glenn was assessed a fine of $1,540 and mandated to pay $338 in associated Portage County court costs.

Reflecting on the grave outcome of the crash, Portage County Prosecutor Connie Lewandowski underscored the profound personal damage inflicted upon the young family by preventable impairment. Lewandowski noted that a mother nearly lost her life and an infant was forced into the world far too early simply because an individual made the decision to drive while drunk, emphasizing that no innocent family should endure such a devastating toll due to reckless actions.
